INTERVENTION
LOCATION: SS ROTTERDAM
The fifth SS Rotterdam, known as "The Grande Dame", was launched by Queen Juliana in a gala ceremony on 13 September 1958, and completed the following summer. The Rotterdam was the last great Dutch "ship of state", employing the finest artisans from the Netherlands in her construction and fitting out process. Her career spanned forty-one years. She sailed from 1959 until her final retirement in September 2000.

100 meter SS Rotterdam

What I found out was that the surroundings of the SS Rotterdam were very boring, there are no exciting colors or things to do, that's why I chose to order these colors to see what the feeling is when you walk around the SS Rotterdam. This gradient exactly shows the sad feeling you get around there, there is almost no color except for the yellow rules on the streets.
10 meter SS Rotterdam

I think this one is pretty obvious, you can see when I walked around the 10 meters I saw a lot of patterns. You can see very different styles, especially in color.

In the one meter I saw a lot of the same angles, you can see that in the overlayed pictures and around that you can see the actual angles added to each other.

What we noticed at the location "SS Rotterdam" was that it was very controlled, there was always someone to let you in and show you the way, we have been asked couple of times what we were doing there even though we were just walking around discovering the location. It is a very dull and boring location people would walk in for 5 minutes and just walk out because there is not really anything to do inside except for a "tour". We wanted to break the boredom and bring something fun to the location, we started with our test intervention to fill the lift outside full of balloons and got some pretty funny footage, but it wasn't enough because we got send away before we could even finish it.
Even though we got send away, we went back to fill the boat with balloons!!
We asked people around to blow up balloons and hid some of the balloons around the ship with a message. We wanted some interaction with people and hear what they thought about it. When we were almost finished we got sent away AGAIN, but we got some very good reactions to the balloons, how fun it was. We definitely broke the boring, or at least for that day!!
